About Joe Borri
My name is Joe Borri, also known in some circles as Motor City Joe. I'm an artist, writer and humorist living outside of my native hometown of Detroit, Michigan. Life and work has turned me into something more than what I strived to be, which was a fine artist. I became disillusioned by that entire scene, and migrated into editorial illustration. From there, I segued to the business side of commercial art & design. Over the years living in the studio space, I did a lot of selling, conceptual collaboration, producing, management and presentation- and copywriting (fiction too; I've got a published book to my name), storyboarding, social media posting and more. Because of all this, I developed into a kind of "creative hybrid" if you will. I love to cook, grill and smoke BBQ. I enjoy craft beer and fine spirits, good cinema, good literature and the beauty of the outdoors, though I do not have many leather bound books and an apartment that smells of rich mahogany. Sorry, I was getting a little Ron Burgundy-esque there.
Anyway, my work is not really limited to any medium though I work mainly in acrylic and oils, with the occasional foray into digital. I try to make art that is meaningful to me, and hope that others feel something when they look at it. The one credo I abide by is taking my art seriously, but not myself. Thank you for your interest and support.
